Saint Joseph University, a leading university in Lebanon and the Middle East has developed an ever
continuous and evolving strategy to enhance its student’s employability opportunities.
It begins with the Career and Placement Office that carries on multiple training sessions addressed
to ongoing students and Alumni and a Website that allows employers to submit job offers that can be
consulted by the graduates.
Further steps were taken in order to present various enterprises directly to students.
Managers, CEO, or Senior recruiters were invited on campus or online to meet with students,
present their company and answer to various inquiries.
Various faculties on different campuses have initiated “Get together” encounters between various
employing companies and students. Those encounters differed in form such as self-promoting activities
on the part of the employers, meetings, presentations, career fairs…but in content,
they all aimed at providing information and networking with keen and motivated students.
The College of Engineering (Ecole Superieure d’ingenieurs de Beyrouth, ESIB)
has 56 presentations for a total of 93 connections with employers.
A wide range of fields was covered: Development of software, Engineering, IT system integrators,
Telecommunication, Wireless data communications, Contracting…
As for the Institut of audiovisual and cinematographical studies (Institut d'études scéniques
audiovisuelles et cinématographiques IESAV) the number of connections with employers is 25.
They focused mainly on production houses or filmmakers and TV channels.
Particular themes were discussed as how to build a career in a family business or how to engage a
career in hotel management with Hilton or Intercontinental. IGE was also very active during its
job fair multiplying the activities from talks to CV corrections, meetings with employers…
The Graduate School of Food Engineers (École supérieure d'ingénieurs agroalimentaires ESIA)
has also put in place employers’ presentations on campus.
Similarly the Faculty of Business and Management (Faculté de gestion et de management FGM)
organized presentations on campus and in the employers offices related to banking, auditing,
consultancy…in addition to an intervention from an expert in the Ministry of Economy and Trade.
FGM has, for 15 years, organized a very active job fair on its premises where more than 55 companies
(banking, commercial, social and industrial sectors ) participated. 500 CVs were handed by the students
to the representatives of these companies.
